What type of installation?

Helical rotor pumps suit lower flow at higher head in narrow bores; centrifugal pumps suit higher flow. Surface pumps sit above ground.

Submersible (bore / open well)Pump sits down inside the water source
Surface pumpDraws from a tank, sump or shallow open source
Not sureMatch on head & flow — most jobs are submersible
Step 2 of 6

Bore size & pump technology

The pump must fit down your borewell. Helical suits 3" and above; centrifugal suits 4" and above.

Project location

We'll pull the average solar irradiance for your site from NASA POWER to estimate how much water the pump can lift per day. This step is optional — skip it to size on head & flow alone.

Rough guide: a few homes ≈ 1–2 m³/h · drip/sprinkler for a small farm ≈ 2–5 m³/h · large irrigation ≈ 10 m³/h and above.
Step 6 of 6

Select your solar PV panel

Pick a common panel size or enter your own electrical specifications. We'll use this to size the array and controller compatibility for your recommended pump(s) on the results page.

You'll see the full array sizing, controller compatibility and wiring diagram on the results page, for both your recommended pump and the secondary recommendation.

Guidance based on the Roto Rudra Solar Pumping Solutions catalogue (updated 30 June). Solar output varies with sunlight, panel wattage and actual head; confirm final sizing, panel array and controller with a Roto Rudra dealer. Helical pumps suit clean water at +20 to +30 °C; centrifugal 0–40 °C, max sand 50 g/m³.
